Why sizes are approximate
There is no international standard for clothing sizes. Every chart here is a named retailer's own, linked below, and retailers disagree at the edges: one calls a women's UK 4 a US 1, another a US 0, and EU shoe sizes vary by up to half a size between brands. Use these to put a buyer's size in your listing, and add the garment's measurements so buyers can check the fit for themselves.
For a top, measure pit to pit across the front and double it for the chest; for jeans, measure across the waistband and double it. A garment measures a little bigger than the body it fits.
Questions
- What is a UK 10 in US sizes?
- A women's UK 10 is a US 6 and an EU 38 on the ASOS chart. In Australia it stays a 10.
- Are Australian sizes the same as UK sizes?
- For women's clothing and men's shoes, yes. Women's shoes in Australia use the US number instead.
- Why does my size differ between brands?
- Every brand cuts to its own chart, and there is no international standard. That is why listing the measurements matters as much as the size.
