What each marketplace asks for

eBay allows 80 characters and tells sellers to use all of them on words buyers search, so the brand leads and the size comes last. Etsy allows 140 characters but suggests fewer than 15 words, with the important traits first because search engines show only the first 50 to 60 characters. Poshmark allows 80 characters and asks for the brand, style name, category, size and colour. Grailed suggests three to six words and no designer name, which has its own field. Vinted publishes no length but asks for the brand, colour, type and what makes it different. Depop has no title at all: the first words of the description do that job.

When a title runs long, the least important part drops first (the style, then the material) so the brand, the item and the size stay. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
