How Mercari fees work

  • Selling fee: 10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. Not charged on sales tax. In force since 6 January 2025. Listing is free, and there is no payment processing fee.
  • Buyer Protection fee (paid by the buyer): 3.6% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, added at checkout. Never taken from your payout.

When the buyer pays shipping, it pays for the prepaid label and is not part of your payout. The selling fee is still charged on it.

When you pay for a Mercari prepaid label, Mercari takes it out of your proceeds. When you ship it yourself, you pay the carrier directly.

Cashing out: Direct Deposit is free ($2 if a deposit fails); Instant Pay costs $3 per cash-out.

Mercari Authenticate costs $5 per item (plus $10 for a certificate), charged to your card when you submit it, not taken from the sale.

Sellers who cancel often can be charged 5% of the item price, up to $25.
