How Whatnot fees work in United States

  • Commission: A percentage of the item price only, never shipping or tax. Fashion starts at 8% and falls to 4.5% as your sales grow; coins & money start at 4%. With the 0%-above-1,500 promotion, nothing is charged on the part of the price above $1,500.
  • Payment processing: 2.9% + $0.30 of what the buyer pays for the item, shipping and tax. Charged once per order.

Whatnot’s tiers reset every four weeks. Rates as low as 3% are custom terms for its largest sellers and are not on the public rate card.

Premier Shops get a further 10% off the commission rate (5% becomes 4.5%) until 31 October 2026. From 1 November 2026 that discount ends.

Promote and Boost are paid per show from a budget you set, not per sale, so they are not in this calculator. Tips carry no commission.

In some states Whatnot also charges sales tax on its own fees, taken from your earnings: on commission in DC, Hawaii, New Mexico and West Virginia; on processing in Connecticut (1%), Hawaii, New Mexico, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas (rate reduced by 20%) and West Virginia. The calculator leaves this out.
